Dual Sensing Fuse Link for Transformer Protection
The Dual Sensing Fuse used for overload protection of oil-immersed transformers is suitable for AC 50/60Hz, rated voltage 8.3/15/23/38KV, and rated current up to 140A in high-voltage indoor power systems. It must be connected in series with the corresponding voltage's oil-immersed transformer short-circuit protection backup fuse to form the overload and short-circuit protection for the power transformer, providing full-range protection. In the full-range protection function, the fuse is only used to protect the secondary side short-circuit faults of the transformer and small-scale fault currents.

Why Dual Sensing Fuse Is Important In Transformer Protection
In real-world transformer operations, failures are not always caused by short-circuit current. Many failures begin with overload heating or oil termperature.
Key Features Of Dual Sensing Fuse
Dual Protection Mechanism
Thermal sensing element reacts to oil temperature rise.
Current sensing element reacts to fault current conditions.
01
High Reliability Design
Stable performance in oil-filled environments.
Resistant to moisture, vibration, and pressure variations.
02
Compatible with Bayonet Fuse Systems
Suitable for pad-mounted transformer fuse assemblies.
Works with standard hot-stick operated fuse holders.
03
Fast Fault Isolation
Rapid response to internal transformer faults.
Minimizes damage to winding and insulation system.
04

Material
There are two manufacturing methods: One is the one-piece molding of the pipe body, and the other is cutting the pipe body to the required length. The pipe body material is all Teflon. The material of the fuse core has two options according to different customer and market demands, one is copper plated with nickel, and the other is pure silver fuse core.
Applications
Dual sensing fuses are widely used in pad-mounted distribution transformers and switchgear and protection assemblies.
Working Principle
The dual sensing fuse operates based on two independent triggers:
Current Sensing Element
When fault current exceeds rated threshold, the fusible element melts and interrupts the circuit.
Thermal Sensing Element
When transformer oil temperature rises beyond safe limits, a thermal trigger activates, opening the circuit even if current is not excessively high.
This dual mechanism ensures early-stage fault detection, preventing catastrophic transformer failure.
