A voltage transformer (VT) is a critical device utilized in power systems for both measurement and protection purposes. Its core technical parameters primarily consist of the rated voltage and the transformation ratio. The primary rated voltage indicates the maximum operating voltage that the transformer's primary side can withstand, while the secondary rated voltage is typically a standard value-such as 100V or 110V-intended for use by instrumentation and relay protection equipment. The transformation ratio reflects the voltage conversion scale; for instance, a ratio of 10kV/100V signifies that the high voltage on the primary side is stepped down to the secondary side according to a specific proportion.

The accuracy class and burden rating reflect the deviation between the transformer's output voltage and the actual voltage under rated load conditions; a lower numerical value indicates greater measurement precision. The burden rating is typically expressed in Volt-Amperes (VA) and specifies the maximum load that the secondary side can support. Specifications such as 10VA or 15VA ensure that, in practical applications, connected instruments and protection devices can operate normally without compromise.

Additional technical parameters of concern for voltage transformers include the rated frequency, insulation class, and temperature rise performance. The rated frequency is typically 50Hz or 60Hz, ensuring stable operation within AC power systems. The insulation class determines the dielectric strength-or voltage-withstanding capability-between the primary and secondary windings, as well as between the windings and ground. Furthermore, the temperature rise class and environmental adaptability influence the device's long-term operational reliability under various conditions, such as ambient temperature, humidity, and altitude. Collectively, these technical parameters determine the safety and accuracy of the voltage transformer within the context of power system measurement and protection.
