The maintenance schedule for cable accessories is typically determined through a comprehensive assessment of factors such as operating voltage levels, environmental conditions, and operational load profiles; generally, there is no single, rigid standard. Instead, the approach primarily centers on a combination of "periodic inspections" and "condition-based maintenance." In conventional power distribution systems, medium- and low-voltage cable accessories typically undergo a routine inspection once a year. These inspections primarily focus on verifying the integrity of the external appearance-checking for signs of leakage, cracking, discharge traces, or loose connections at the joints-to facilitate the timely detection of potential safety hazards.

For cable accessories utilized in high-voltage systems or critical operational environments, the maintenance regimen is considerably more rigorous. It is generally recommended that specialized inspections be conducted every six to twelve months, with findings analyzed in conjunction with operational status monitoring data. For instance, techniques such as infrared thermography and partial discharge detection can be employed to identify abnormal heat generation or signs of insulation degradation within the accessories, thereby enabling the proactive scheduling of repairs or replacements to prevent minor faults from escalating into major failures.

In challenging environments-such as underground utility tunnels, humid regions, or highly polluted industrial zones-the inspection intervals for cable accessories should be appropriately shortened, and the frequency of routine patrols increased. Furthermore, for accessories that have been in long-term service or are nearing the end of their designed service life, a targeted monitoring plan should be implemented; where necessary, this may entail scheduling power outages to facilitate thorough maintenance or performance testing. By establishing a rational and well-structured maintenance schedule, the service life of cable accessories can be effectively extended, thereby ensuring the stable and reliable operation of the power system.
