Cable accessories consist of multiple complementary components, each fulfilling specific structural functions-such as insulation, connection, and protection-to collectively ensure the safe and stable operation of the cable system. Among these, the most fundamental components are the insulating parts and the conductive connectors. Insulating parts, typically fabricated from materials such as silicone rubber, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), or epoxy resin, serve to isolate high voltages and prevent partial discharge; conductive connectors, conversely, are utilized to establish reliable electrical connections-either between cable cores or between the cable and external equipment-thereby ensuring the continuous transmission of current.
Regarding structural reinforcement and electric field control, stress control components and shielding layers serve as critical accessories. Stress control components are designed to optimize the electric field distribution at cable terminations, thereby preventing electric field concentrations that could trigger insulation breakdown; shielding layers function to homogenize the electric field and suppress electromagnetic interference, thereby enhancing the operational stability of the cable. To achieve their optimal performance, these components typically require a tight, intimate fit against the body of the cable itself.
Cable accessories also encompass various auxiliary components, such as sealing elements, fixing devices, and protective housings. Sealing elements provide protection against water, moisture, and dust, thereby ensuring the long-term reliability of the cable system within its operating environment; fixing devices provide structural support, preventing the accessories from shifting or becoming displaced during operation or when subjected to external forces; and protective housings offer mechanical protection, shielding the assembly against physical impact and corrosion. By working in concert, these diverse components collectively constitute a complete and integrated cable accessory system.
