During operation, priority should be given to monitoring the device's external condition, checking for any anomalies such as cracks, signs of electrical discharge, or oil leakage. Concurrently, insulating components must be kept clean and dry to prevent the accumulation of dust, moisture, or contaminants, thereby safeguarding against the degradation of insulation performance or the occurrence of partial discharge issues.
The secondary circuit should undergo periodic tightening and testing to prevent loose connections, poor contact, or open-circuit conditions. Particular emphasis should be placed on monitoring the stability of the secondary-side current during periods of significant load fluctuation or substantial environmental temperature variation. Furthermore, periodic insulation resistance tests and turns ratio verifications should be conducted to ensure that measurement accuracy meets operational requirements and to prevent increased measurement errors resulting from equipment aging or changes within the magnetic core.
A rational maintenance schedule should be formulated based on the equipment's operational age and its specific operating environment. For current transformers that have been in service for extended periods-or those situated in environments characterized by high pollution levels or high humidity-the interval between maintenance inspections should be appropriately shortened. When deemed necessary, maintenance may be performed during a scheduled power outage to facilitate a comprehensive inspection and remediation of internal connections, the magnetic core, and insulating materials; this practice serves to extend the equipment's service life and ensure the long-term, stable operation of the power system.
